River & Stream Water Quality Monitoring
An important part of the City of Valdosta Utilities Department’s Environmental Management Division is its responsibility for monitoring rivers and streams, to help protect them. This process includes the City’s Watershed Assessment and Protection program as well as the required assessment of the effects from major sewage spills. The purpose of this monitoring is not only to safeguard the families and citizens of Valdosta and Lowndes County, but also to protect the wildlife, natural resources, and environs so they can continue to be enjoyed by future generations. Environmental stewardship is one of the top priorities of the operations at the City of Valdosta Utilities Department primarily thanks to the work of the Environmental Management Division staff.
