Valdosta Tree Commission

Purpose

The Valdosta Tree Commission was formed by the Valdosta Mayor and City Council in 1984 for the purpose of regulating the planting, maintenance and removal of trees and shrubs in public places, providing for the pruning  of trees on private property which endangers public safety, and to generally improve the general welfare and health of the people of the City by promoting informed management of the City's urban forest. The Tree Commission recommends changes to the City's Tree and Landscape Ordinance, initiates and implements planting projects, and conducts educational programs regarding the importance and value of trees as part of the City's infrastructure.
