Department Overview

Welcome to the Public Works Department’s website! The Public Works Department is responsible for the daily operation of residential sanitation services, commercial sanitation services, right-of-way street maintenance, facilities maintenance, and the repair of city vehicles and equipment. We maintain residents' household garbage,  bulk items, and yard trash. In addition, the Public Works Department provides mosquito spraying and street sweeping in residential areas as well as designated state routes.

For our local business owners, we provide the most competitive and best rates available for commercial dumpsters and roll-offs. With approximately 112 employees, the staff of the Public Works Department continues to search for innovative ways to do business and provide an outstanding quality of life for the citizens of Valdosta.
