Rain Gauges
The City of Valdosta is a proud partner of the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow (CoCoRaHS) Network. CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers that work together to measure and map precipitation throughout all fifty states. In September 2010, the Stormwater Division installed several rain gauges to help track rainfall throughout the city limits of Valdosta, which today include the following:
Station Number | Location |
GA-LW-13: Valdosta 0.3 S | Lee Street |
GA-LW-14: Valdosta 2.8 NNE | Druid Oaks |
GA-LW-15: Valdosta 2.4 W | Home Depot |
GA-LW-16: Valdosta 4.1 NNW | Ridge Road |
GA-LW-17: Valdosta 3.1 S | Gil Harbin |
GA-LW-18: Valdosta 4.8 NNE | Guest Road |

The rain gauges are checked Monday - Friday and the information is then entered into the CoCoRaHS website. A wide variety of individuals and organizations use the data, which includes the National Weather Service, emergency managers, engineers, etc. To learn more about CoCoRaHS or to view the rainfall information, please go to www.cocorahs.org.
