City utilities crews work on natural gas line repair

On Tuesday Morning, the City of Valdosta utilities crews were making repairs on Riverside Drive and inadvertently discovered a natural gas liner hat was broken by roots. During this, there was no immediate danger to the surrounding area and no evacuations were necessary. The Fire Department was notified and crews have gone door to door to make sure all residents in the area have been informed. There are no reported injuries from this incident. Crews from Georgia Natural Gas are on site helping with the repair.

The road will be closed until all work is completed. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we ensure this is done correctly.
