Disaster Recovery Center relocating to VSU Continuing Education Building; FEMA assistance deadline Jan. 7, 2025
Today, Friday, December 13th, the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), currently operating at Valdosta Fire Department Station located at 4434 N Forrest Street Extension, will close permanently at 7:00 PM. The DRC will reopen on Monday, December 15th at 8:00 AM at its new location in the VSU Continuing Education Building at 901 N Patterson Street (corner of N Patterson St and Gordon St). FEMA will continue to operate at this location, Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM each day. The DRC will be closed on Sundays.
The January 7, 2025, deadline to apply for assistance with FEMA is fast approaching. Residents who experienced damage or other losses due to Hurricane Helene are encouraged to apply for FEMA Disaster assistance. The quickest way to apply is online at DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or call toll-free 800-621-3362. The telephone line is open daily; help is available in most languages. Survivors can also contact the Georgia Call Center at 678-547-2861 for assistance with their application.
In addition to helping with registration, staff at the DRC can check the status of applications, explain any letters you may have received regarding your application, and help upload additional documents needed to move your application forward.
