City of Valdosta Issues Yard Debris Disposal Guidelines Following Tropical Storm Debby
In response to the recent impact of Tropical Storm Debby, the City of Valdosta's Public Works Department is reminding residents of the guidelines for yard debris disposal. Adhering to these guidelines ensures the efficiency and safety of the City's waste collection services.
Yard Debris Disposal Guidelines:
1. Tree Trunks:Cut tree trunks must be no longer than 6 feet and no wider than 4 inches in diameter. Please separate large trunks from smaller branches and limbs.
2. Limbs and Branches: Limbs must not exceed 35 pounds in weight. Limbs length must not exceed 4 ft & 4 inches in diameter. Ensure that limbs and branches are kept separate from straw and leaves.
3. Leaves: Leaves should be placed in a pile of their own, distinct from other yard debris.
4. Prohibited Items: Do not place household garbage, bags, construction and demolition debris, or any non-tree-related items with yard debris. Yard debris should be strictly organic material from trees.
5. Bulk Items: Bulk items should be separated from yard debris and green roll-out can garbage. To schedule bulk item pickup, call 229.259.3590.
6. Curbside Placement: When placing debris at the curbside, ensure that it does not cover fire hydrants, water meters, or sewer and stormwater manholes. This is crucial for the accessibility and safety of our utility services.
By following these guidelines, residents help maintain a clean and safe environment for the community. The City of Valdosta thanks everyone for their cooperation and commitment to keeping Valdosta beautiful.
