This position performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of a water or wastewater treatment plant.

Overview

  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment; performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of maintenance records.
  • Assists in the modification and installation of equipment and parts.
  • Monitors plant observations and reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Occasionally assist Operations in day-to-day tasks.
  • Operates a front-end loader and other equipment as needed.
  • Assists with other plants and lift stations as needed.
  • Assists in the rebuilding of system books.
  • Cleans and maintains plant equipment.
  • Performs related duties.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of treatment plant processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of work safety principles and practices.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Skill in the inspection of plant processes and the recording of related data.
  • Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition and records preparation principles.
  • Skill in the operation and maintenance of job-related tools and equipment.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
