Neighborhood Development Host Back to School Community Block Party

As the summer winds down and the school year approaches, the City of Valdosta's Neighborhood Development Division is gearing up to host its annual Back to School Community Block Party. This exciting event will take place on Saturday, July 27th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Unity Park Amphitheater, promising a fun-filled day for families and children of all ages.

This gathering serves as a cornerstone in fostering a positive start to the upcoming school year, particularly for families who may need additional support in preparing their children. The event offers an array of activities and resources aimed at ensuring every child feels equipped and excited for the academic journey ahead.

One of the highlights of the event is the distribution of free bookbags filled with essential school supplies, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed. Additionally, World of Fades will be at the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, providing complimentary haircuts and helping children look and feel their best as they step into the classroom.

Volunteers and City Staff will fire up the grill, serving delicious food for attendees to enjoy as they partake in the festivities. From music and games to community engagement activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy at the Back to School Community Block Party.

Anetra Riley, the Neighborhood Development and Community Protection Manager, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "Our Back to School Community Block Party is a testament to the power of community support and collaboration. By coming together to provide resources and celebrate the start of a new school year, we are not only empowering our children but strengthening the bonds that make our community thrive."

The Neighborhood Development Division invites families to Unity Park Amphitheater on July 27th for a day of fun, empowerment, and community building.
