Customer Service Representative
Description
Overview
This position provides customer service and clerical support for department operation
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Accepts and processes utility payments, taxes and license fees; issues receipts.
- Makes account adjustments.
- Processes refund checks.
- Balances cash drawer.
- Scans files for attachment to customer accounts.
- Enters fees and makes deposits for other city departments.
- Opens new utility accounts; closes accounts.
- Researches and resolves customer account issues.
- Assists customers by coordinating payment arrangements.
- Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needed.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
