New Roll-Off Containers Provide Convenient, Efficient Options

Expanded service complements other commercial sanitary services

Contractors and landscapers working within the city limits of Valdosta, as well as homeowners, now have the option of bigger and better when it comes to choosing a roll-off size for their various projects. The expanded roll-off service complements other commercial sanitary services—such as garbage collection, trash removal and other waste disposal services—provided to businesses within the city limits.

Roll-offs are the large, transportable dumpsters used for projects such as home remodels, cleanups and construction projects and for jobs that accumulate substantial tree and shrubbery debris. Until recently, the Public Works Department offered the rental of roll-offs in the sizes of 10, 15, 20 and 30 cubic yards. When citizens and industrial clients began requesting a larger roll-off size to accommodate their projects, Public Works listened and added four new roll-offs that can hold up to 40 cubic yards each to meet the needs of the marketplace.

The roll-offs are rented at competitive prices and are a convenient, efficient option for companies and residents who have large amounts of debris to discard. Additionally, the roll-offs allow citizens to work at their own leisure and eliminates the need to schedule a special pickup, which reduces costs.

In addition to the new roll-offs, the Public Works Department continues to offer commercial sanitary customers a variety of container sizes and customized service schedules to meet the customer's needs. The department can service small commercial business needs by providing a 96-gallon roll-out container on location with one or two pickups per week. Larger commercial customers have the option of requesting four, six or eight-yard dumpsters with a customized service schedule of up to six days a week, depending on their size and needs. Public Works staff also services compactors and provides environmentally-friendly services, such as recycling and electronics recycling.

"The sanitation services provided by the city's Public Works Department are far more than just household garbage pickups," said Public Works Director Richard Hardy. "We are also able to effectively compete in the marketplace and serve local business and industry customers with comprehensive, customized services, with the lowest prices in the area, and with no long-term contract."
