VPD Conducts Patrols for Proactive Community Policing

On Friday night, February 9, 2025, numerous members of the Valdosta Police Department, including Command Staff, Specialized Patrol Units, Detectives, and Patrol Officers, conducted a series of concentrated patrols throughout the city. These proactive efforts included foot patrols and driver’s license checkpoints in response to community concerns about crime in specific areas.

The patrols focused on several locations, including:

  • 1700 block of Williams Street
  • 400 block of North Troup Street
  • Ora Lee West
  • Sustella Avenue

As a result of these efforts, officers made six arrests for active warrants, including multiple felony charges. Additionally, one individual was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and another was arrested for a VGCSA Schedule 2 drug offense.

Officers also issued multiple citations, including:

  • 8 for driving while suspended
  • 10 seatbelt violations
  • 3 for misdemeanor marijuana possession
  • 2 for no insurance
  • 1 for misdemeanor obstruction
  • 9 other misdemeanor traffic offenses

These targeted patrols demonstrate the Valdosta Police Department’s ongoing commitment to addressing crime concerns and ensuring the safety of the community. VPD will continue to conduct proactive operations to enhance public safety and maintain a strong presence in areas where citizens have voiced concerns.
