Transportation for Lowndes County Seniors Age 60 & Above

Senior citizens aged 60 and above are eligible for transportation services for a variety of trip types thanks to the Southern Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging (SGRC-AAA) and Coordinated Transportation program. The purpose of this initiative is to provide essential trips for eligible seniors within Lowndes County.

The purpose of Coordinated Transportation is to provide safe, quality transportation services to residents of Lowndes County whose services are ordered by Georgia Department of Human Services Human Service Providers, like the SGRC.

The Southern Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging (SGRC-AAA) develops, provides, coordinates, and advocates for services that assist older individuals, at-risk adults, persons with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.

The SGRC-AAA will coordinate trips to seniors aged 60 and above as requested at no cost.  Qualifying trip types include:

  • Medical, dental, or mental health appointments
  • Pharmacy (prescription or over-the-counter drugs)
  • Grocery or other essential shopping
  • Other essential trips to care for yourself; including avoiding the effects of social isolation

In order to maintain the safety of the drivers and passengers, masks are worn, riders are safely distanced, & sanitation practices are followed on all vehicles operated by the SGRC’s contractors.

If you need transportation within the Valdosta/Lowndes area, please call the AAA to find out if you are eligible for a trip. The number is 1-888-732-4464.
