NS Train Crossing Repairs Cause Temporary Closures on Three City Streets

Norfolk Southern will repair train crossings in Valdosta this week on three heavily-traveled city streets. The repairs require detours around the working areas for approximately four to six hours, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Motorists will not be permitted to cross the train tracks while the repairs are being made. Citizens are urged to avoid the areas below on the following days:

  • Tuesday--Oak Street Crossing in Downtown
  • Wednesday—River Street
  • Thursday—Gornto Road near YMCA

YMCA patrons will still have access to both parking lot entrances of the facility when traveling from Baytree Road.

Traffic control devices will be in place during work hours to alert motorists of the work and the detours. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving near these areas for their safety and the safety of others.
