City of Valdosta Launches Community Engagement with Needs Assessment Survey

The City of Valdosta is preparing for its 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan, 2025 Annual Action Plan, and Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice by the regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

These vital documents play a crucial role in identifying community needs and outlining a comprehensive strategy for the allocation of HUD grants to enhance community resources. The Consolidated Plan serves as a blueprint for addressing critical needs and fostering community development over the next five years.

As part of the planning process, the City of Valdosta invites residents to participate in the Needs Assessment Survey. The survey responses will be kept confidential and only be reported in aggregate to safeguard participants' privacy. Residents are encouraged to provide their input to help shape the future of housing and community development in Valdosta.

"We value the input of our residents in shaping the future of our community," stated Neighborhood Development/Community Protection Manager Anetra Riley. "By participating in the Needs Assessment Survey, residents can contribute to developing strategies that address the needs of our community."

Residents are invited to attend a Needs Assessment meeting on February 20, 2024. The meetings will be held at two convenient locations:

  • 12:00 pm at The Mildred Hunter Center (509 S. Fry St, Valdosta, GA 31601)
  • 5:00 pm at the City of Valdosta City Hall Annex, Multi-purpose Room (300 N Lee Street, Valdosta, Georgia 31601)

Residents have the right to discontinue participation at any time, but their input is crucial in shaping the future of housing and community development in Valdosta.

Whether completing the online version or returning the paper version by email or mail, the City asks for your responses by April 9, 2024.

Surveys can be completed electronically at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ValdostaCommunityNeeds
