City of Valdosta Issues Important Updates on Sanitation, Yard Debris, and Transit Services

The City of Valdosta Public Works Sanitation Division has announced that regular trash pickup will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, September 26, but yard debris and sanitation routes will be concluded at noon (12 p.m.) for preparation for inclement weather. If weather conditions permit, pickups planned for Friday, September 27, will also occur. However, in the event of adverse weather, Friday's trash pickup will be rescheduled for Saturday, September 28.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and place their rollout bins at the curb accordingly.

As the community prepares for potential storms, the City of Valdosta urges residents to follow these safety guidelines:

  • Keep debris out of storm drains and ditches to help prevent flooding.
  • Report clogged ditches and culverts to the Stormwater Division.
  • Secure outdoor items and furniture to avoid potential blockages.
  • Clear loose and clogged rain gutters and downspouts to ensure proper drainage.

If residents encounter blocked storm drains or flooding issues within city limits, they should contact the Stormwater Division at 229-259-3530. As no one will be present in the office, please leave a voicemail, and the Stormwater Division will follow up as soon as time allows.

For everyone’s safety, residents are advised to stay off local roadways during and after storm conditions to allow first responders and utility crews to operate safely.

Please do not call 911 for non-emergencies or weather updates.
