City Inspires Youth for Future Success

Fourteen City of Valdosta employees participated in the Pinevale Elementary School Career Day on March 24 to inspire students to stay in school and to prepare them for future success. The visit also exposed the youth to a variety of careers in local government.

Several city employees and departments were involved including Larry Ogden, Julious Holloway and Danny Rickman from the Traffic Management Center; Ellen Hill and Missy Smith from Valdosta Main Street; Angela Bray from the Stormwater Division; Ted Bilak from the Inspections Department; Randy Jones and Phillip Walker from the Utilities Department; James Dean from the Community Protection Division; Capt. Jeff Thibodeau and Chief James Clinkscales from the Valdosta Fire Department; Lt. Stephen Thompson from the Valdosta Police Department/Crime Lab. City Councilwoman Vivian Miller-Cody also spoke to the youth about setting goals for a successful and productive life.

Participation in Pinevale's Career Day reflects the city's commitment to identify and encourage good life decisions for our youth and to help prepare them for future success, as identified by Mayor & Council goal no. 2 for Fiscal Year 2018.
