Utility Maintenance Technician
Description
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of a water or wastewater treatment plant.
Overview
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment; performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of maintenance records.
- Assists in the modification and installation of equipment and parts.
- Monitors plant observations and reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
- Occasionally assist Operations in day-to-day tasks.
- Operates a front-end loader and other equipment as needed.
- Assists with other plants and lift stations as needed.
- Assists in the rebuilding of system books.
- Cleans and maintains plant equipment.
- Performs related duties.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Knowledge of treatment plant processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of work safety principles and practices.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Skill in the inspection of plant processes and the recording of related data.
- Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Knowledge of data acquisition and records preparation principles.
- Skill in the operation and maintenance of job-related tools and equipment.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
