Overview

This position is responsible for providing clerical and customer service support for assigned Police Department operations

  • Answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel; takes messages and makes appointments.
  • Work 12 hour shifts. Night shift: 6pm-6am.
  • Will work holidays and weekends if scheduled
  • Receives and processes fines and other payments; balances cash drawer.
  • Processes traffic citations.
  • Prepares and files dockets.
  • Prepares prisoner logs.
  • Verifies and clears warrants.
  • Maintains office supplies and reorders as needed.
  • Drafts, composes and types memoranda, letters and other correspondence.
  • Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
  • Enters and receives data from computerized databases.
  • Maintains departmental files and records.
  • Performs related duties.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of city records management principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
  • Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
