Crew Leader
Description
Overview
This position supervises and participates in the work of a crew of personnel engaged in the repair and maintenance of city's streets and the storm sewer system.
- Supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of drainage ditches, storm sewers, catch basins, headwalls and other stormwater structures; cleans drainage ditches, catch basins and storm pipes; installs pipes, catch basins and headwalls.
- Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of city streets and sidewalks; performs asphalt and concrete construction and repair work.
- Maintains records of crew time, inspections and completed work orders; completes monthly reports.
- Orders materials and equipment needed to perform projects and tasks.
- Secures bids for the replacements to tools and equipment.
- Responds to and resolves customer complaints.
- Transports tools, equipment and materials to and from work sites.
- Trains new personnel.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of street and stormwater system maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of equipment operation principles.
- Knowledge of masonry and concrete construction principles.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Knowledge of work safety methods.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance principles.
- Skill in the supervision of personnel.
- Skill in the operation of a variety of job-related equipment.
- Skill in the preparation of a variety of reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
