VPD Hosts Promotions and Awards Ceremony
The Valdosta Police Department recently held its Promotions and Awards Ceremony to honor its officers' exceptional service and heroic actions. The event highlighted significant career advancements, life-saving acts, and long-term dedication to the community.
Promotions:
- Colby Clark has been promoted to Captain in the Professional Standards Division.
- Chris Crews has been promoted to Lieutenant in the Professional Standards Division.
- Jason Louie has been promoted to Patrol Sergeant.
Life-saving Awards:
- Officer Kevin Taber received the Life-saving Award for his swift and effective response to a code blue call. Officer Taber performed critical life-saving measures, rendering the victim responsive before medical personnel arrived.
- Officer Cody Peek was honored with the Life-saving Award for his actions during a shooting incident. Officer Peek, recognizing the severity of the victim's condition, transported the individual to the hospital in his patrol car, ultimately saving the victim's life. The grateful victim later visited the police department to personally thank Officer Peek.
Award of Merit:
- Detective Tiffany Romanowski was awarded the Award of Merit for her outstanding response during a dangerous situation involving gunmen and multiple gunshot victims. Detective Romanowski's quick, decisive actions in relaying crucial information expedited care for the wounded. She also assisted EMS in moving a victim to safety.
Service Awards:
- Officer Matthew Francis was recognized for ten years of dedicated service.
- Sergeant Bucky Griffin, Sergeant Terrance Hines, and Detective Ellen Mulvaney were each honored for 15 years of service.
- Officer Richard Davis was acknowledged for his 25 years of service.
- Robin Jackson was celebrated for an impressive 35 years of commitment to the department.
Chief of Police Leslie Manahan expressed her pride in the department's achievements, stating, "Our officers exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and dedication. Their bravery and commitment to public service are commendable, and we are honored to recognize their contributions."
