Valdosta Mayor Pro Tem Alvin Payton, Jr., and City Engineer Pat Collins honored Brandon Corbitt, Ben Hart and Victor Anderson as the December 2016 Employees of the Month at the Dec. 8 City Council meeting. They each received a framed certificate and a check for $200, and their names appear on a plaque displayed in City Hall.
Corbitt works as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Hart works as Light Equipment Operator and Anderson works as a Maintenance Worker for the Engineering Department's Street Division.
Corbitt, Hart, and Anderson were working on a sidewalk project when a resident anxiously approached them. She explained that her husband had fallen inside their home, could not get up and needed help. Without hesitation, Corbitt and Anderson stopped what they were doing to follow the resident to her home to assist, as Hart stayed back since the city equipment could not be left unattended. Corbitt, who is certified in CPR and first-aid, and Anderson found the man lying on the floor and quickly assisted him back into his chair. The wife was very grateful for the crew's immediate response and willingness to lend her a helping hand.
The City of Valdosta applauds Brandon Corbitt, Ben Hart and Victor Anderson for demonstrating kindness and citizenship and for being named the December 2016 Employees of the Month.
