Local Governments Issue Revised Emergency Management Order
Valdosta-Lowndes County, Ga. – Lowndes County and the Cities of Valdosta, Hahira and Lake Park issued a revised Emergency Management Purpose Order on Thursday, March 26, 2020, which places additional guidelines for local businesses in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The updated order prohibits the operation of hair and nail salons, body waxing, tanning salons, tattoo parlors, massage therapy and other personal grooming businesses. This updated order went into effect immediately in Lowndes County, Valdosta, Hahira and Lake Park and will last through April 6.
No Business, Establishment, Corporation, Non-Profit, or organization shall allow more than ten (10) persons to be gathered at a single location if such gathering requires persons to stand or to be seated within six (6) feet of any other person.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s South Health District recommends businesses or manufacturing companies that employee more than 10 people take extra precautions to avoid employee exposure.
Steps businesses/manufacturing companies are recommended to take include:
- Screening employees’ temperatures and symptoms before beginning work.
- Send home ANY employee exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, coughing, and shortness of breath).
- Provide the recommended 6 feet distance between employees when possible.
- Clean and disinfect frequently.
- Provide sanitation supplies including hand soap, sanitizer, and tissues and cleaning products.
- Avoid multiple employees using the same office supplies (phones, computers, etc.) when possible.
