Mayor John Gayle Proclaims Homeless Persons Memorial Day

On November 1, The City of Valdosta's Mayor John Gayle read a proclamation in honor of Homeless Persons Memorial Day.

The proclamation stated "every member of society, including individuals who experience homelessness, deserves the dignity of safe, decent, accessible and affordable housing. With winter approaching, this season poses an extreme hardship for inadequately housed low-income men, women and children,"

During this season of generosity and sharing, Mayor Gayle encourages citizens of Valdosta to show compassion and concern for all people and join together as a community in the fight against homelessness and poverty.

"We've got to do what we can to help the situation. It's just like these other charitable organizations. We've got to remember them this year when we're giving," says Mayor Gayle.

Mayor Gayle urges the community to support and embrace this special effort to end homelessness and poverty in our community.
