City of Valdosta honors Veterans during Headstone Cleaning Event
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, from 9 am to 12 pm, the City of Valdosta's Public Works Department is holding its Fall Veteran's Day Headstone Cleaning event to show appreciation for our courageous veterans who have passed on.
Over time, headstones can become grimy from their constant outdoor exposure. Rain and humidity cause mold to accumulate on the stone, making it difficult to read. This event helps the legibility of the headstones so people can read the information. This is an excellent opportunity to pay our respects and honor our fallen heroes by cleaning their headstones. Many brave men and women fight for our freedom every day, and it is vital to show our gratitude for their sacrifice, which continues after these real-life superheroes are no longer with us.
All the necessary equipment will be provided. The City of Valdosta only asks that volunteers bring their vivacious energy and willingness to make a difference. Let's unite and show gratitude to those who have served our country.
