City of Valdosta to Celebrate Georgia Cities Week and Neighborhood Development Week with Community Events

The City of Valdosta is excited to announce its participation in Georgia Cities Week and Neighborhood Development Week, a weeklong celebration highlighting the important role cities play in enhancing the quality of life for residents. From April 21 to April 26, the city will host a series of community-centered events, inviting residents to engage with city leaders, explore public services, and enjoy interactive activities.

Event Schedule:

Monday, April 21 | 4 PM | Boys & Girls Club

  • Mayor and City Manager will engage in a friendly basketball game with teens.
  • Assistant City Manager and City Council Members will visit and read with students at the Boys & Girls Club.

Tuesday, April 22 | 11 AM | Unity Park

  • Lunch with the Marshals – Community members can enjoy lunch with City Marshals on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wednesday, April 23 | 10 AM - Noon | 5 Points

Friday, April 25 | 10 AM - Noon | Valdosta Fire & Police Departments

  • Public Service Day

Fire Station Tours at Valdosta Fire Department.

Demonstrations of Departmental Equipment.

Frozen treats will be provided at both locations.

Saturday, April 26 | 10 AM - Noon | Unity Park

  • Second Annual Paint in the Park – A community painting event inviting residents to express their creativity in an outdoor setting.

The City of Valdosta encourages all residents to participate in these events and celebrate the strong sense of community that defines the city. Georgia Cities Week is an initiative of the Georgia Municipal Association, aiming to highlight the value of municipal government and foster civic engagement.
