Announcement to City Leaders and Staff

The City of Valdosta and Lowndes County suffered significant damage as Hurricane Idalia moved through our area.  Many roads are impassable due to flooding, debris, or lines in the roadway.  The recovery efforts are underway, but the damage is vast.  

While the City conducts a full damage assessment and begins cleanup efforts, we want to be certain that all appropriate focus is placed on the work that needs to be done.  To that end, we are asking all scheduled field employees in the following departments to report to work as scheduled on Thursday:  Police, Fire, Utilities, Public Works, and Engineering.  All office and administrative staff should stay home and off the roads.
