Moody Conducts Controlled Detonations at Grand Bay Range
MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – The 23d Civil Engineer Squadron's explosive ordnance disposal will be detonating explosives at Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Excess noise that may be heard throughout Valdosta and surrounding areas is due to controlled detonations overseen by EOD members and Moody range control specialists.
Military personnel regularly use the range and its surrounding airspace Monday to Friday during various hours for tactical air and ground maneuvers, as well as weapons training. The U.S. Air Force Reserve also uses the range and airspace on specified weekends.
