Overview

This position performs street and drainage system maintenance and repair duties. An incumbent in this position may be designated "Maintenance Worker II."

  • Maintains and repairs ditches.
  • Maintains catch basins and headwalls.
  • Maintains and installs drainage pipes.
  • Flags traffic at work sites.
  • Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Makes sidewalk and curb repairs.
  • Repairs street water and sewer cuts.
  • Installs road signs.
  • Operates a backhoe, tamper, and other equipment.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools
  • Performs related duties.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of street and drainage system maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of the tools and equipments use in the repair and maintenance of city infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles equipment.
  • Skill in the operation of hand and power tools.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • No experience requirements.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
