Battalion Chief Frank McMillian Retires from the City of Valdosta Fire Department
On February 24, the Valdosta Fire Department held a retirement ceremony for Frank McMillian, who retired from the city after 36 years of service.“I want to thank Chief McMillian for his dedication and a tremendous amount of service. We wish Frank well in his retirement and we are so thankful to have had him at the City of Valdosta and Valdosta Fire Department for the past 36 years,” said Fire Chief Brian Boutwell.
“I enjoyed my time at the Valdosta Fire Department, each shift was a new experience. It is such a fun job, and sometimes I wondered am I really getting paid to do this? I have loved my career as a firefighter,” said Chief McMillian. “I enjoyed helping people, giving back to the community and giving back to our department.”
Frank McMillian started his career in 1985 as a firefighter. Following that, he moved through the ranks of the Valdosta Fire Department from Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief.
At his retirement ceremony, McMillian was presented with several items including a helmet, plaque, and a frame with his badges.
We thank Chief McMillian for his service and wish him well on his retirement.
