Overview

This position is responsible for the custodial care and minor maintenance of department facilities.

  • Empties and cleans waste receptacles; collects recyclables.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms; restocks restroom supplies.
  • Cleans and sanitizes water fountains.
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes, and buffs floors; spot-cleans carpets.
  • Dust and cleans department furniture.
  • Minor building repairs (interior/exterior) as needed.
  • Stands by when non-employee repair personnel are working in the building,
  • Maintains cleaning and equipment supply inventory.
  • Cleans windows and mirrors.
  • Cleans blinds and window sills.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Uses exterior pressure washer as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of city safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the use of various cleaning chemicals.
  • Skill in operating such cleaning equipment as a vacuum cleaner, buffer, and various hand tools.
  • Skill in following instructions.
  • Skill in prioritizing work.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • No experience requirements.
